first fruits

Had my first strawberries of the season last night, after the sun had been on them all day, warming them and making them juicy. Yummm.......

Our strawberries are long gone but Jersey blueberries are at their peak so they are dirt cheep. 2 pints for 2.99. I pigged out and ate 2 pints in 4 days. I picked up my first local tomatoes today. Still a tad pricy, 50 cents each. You probably don't want to hear that local corn was available by the 4th.

Your garden looks lovely. The potatoes look healty. Maybe you have to grow them as a 2 year crop? In case, why not put in some new ones so you will have potatoes next year.

Watch out for the bears while working out there.

We've been nibbling on first year strawberries as well! Nothing tastes as good as a just picked, sun warmed strawberry from your garden. Mmmmmm.....
