knitting update...

As you can seen, I got a couple of projects finished: another pair of socks, and a pair of fingerless gloves. The yarn from the socks was something I bought on eBay, and it was not supposed to have a stripe, so I thought it would be perfect for socks with cables. As I started knitting, however, it quickly became clear that it was in fact striping, and stripes don't look so good with cables. So I made them fairly plain, with a wide rib to give them some extra stretch. They are very comfy.

I saw your reply to a blog post on Casaubon's Book that mentioned you were in Anchorage. Then I found your blog and see that you knit!

I'm also in Anchorage and have recently taken a beginning knitting class but really haven't done much with it. I'd really like to learn how to make something other than anything in a rectangular shape. I like the socks you made even if they are striped and they do look comfy.

I think the reason I haven't done so much knitting is that I'm doing other things to prepare for a post oil world and that's been keeping me pretty busy. Sounds like we have things in common besides living in the same city.

I'd love to meet you sometime! I'm a single woman of 48 working for the State Library downtown. Actually, the State Library is physically located in Juneau but there's an office for some of the staff here in Anchorage. You said you work for the state - where are you working? If you're downtown, we could catch up with each other.

Please email me at kacanepa(@)uwalumni.com when you have a minute.

Love your blog!

Kerri
